Introduction:

Please be patient as we are currently reconstructing our web site. In the meantime - feel free to check out our online genealogy store through the "Online Store" tab shown above.

I will start by giving all who make it this far a fair warning - Genealogical research into the Phebus surname is immensely more complex than most other names. Our ancestors were very prone to displacement and nomadic wandering. Throughout history - our ancestors migrated widely across the globe, scattering the current Phebus/Phoebus/Fibus/Febus clans. If you are not intimidated by the challenge I pose - continue reading.

So, now you've started researching your family history and wonder what's available on the "internet." There are thousands of Genealogical resources on the world-wide-web. In an attempt at organizing and compiling the efforts of the various "Phebus" families scattered throughout the world, myself and Hank Phebus (who heads the "Phebus Genealogy Index" at www.phebus.com) have sorted out some of the confusion in order to bring valuable resources to fellow genealogy researchers and historians.

I strongly recommend you at least begin some of your research by navigating to the site managed by Hank Phebus and his multitude of volunteers by clicking on the link seen below. His site has been the foundation for most of the research done on this surname on the web, and will give you a great idea what to expect as you begin your own journey through the past.

By all means bookmark this site. Once completed, this site will complement the Phebus Genealogy Index by compiling research on the second main family line in America, the line traced back currently to Johannes Jacobus Fibus, a German emigrant who travelled to our country between 1795 and 1798 and shortly thereafter changed his given name to James.

When all is said and done, if your family lineage can be traced to Johannes or, you will be able to find valuable resources here. For descendents of George Phebus, please refer to the Phebus Genealogy Index at http://www.phebus.com/

Last Note: If you would like to become a volunteer for work on this web-site, please email us at genealogy@phebus.org. I will be organizing the web team as volunteers contact us.

GOOD LUCK!!
