James Fibus from Germany, who was residing within the limits and under the jurisdiction of the United States between the 18th day of June 1798 and the 14th day of April 1802, appears in open Court here to be adopted to become a Citizen of the United States. pursuant to the act of Congress passed the 14th day of April 1802 entitled "An Act to establish an uniform rule of naturalization and to repeal the Acts heretofore posed on that subject" and the additional act thereto on the 26th day of March 1804
And due proof having been made to the Court hereby Francis Hartz a creditable witness that the said James Fibus has resided five years within and under the jurisdiction of the United States and two years at land within the state of Maryland and is appearing also to the satifaction of the court the during that time that he has behaved himself as a man of good moral character attached to the principles of the constitution of the United States and well disposed of the good order and happiness of the same And the said James Fibus was declared on oath that he will support the constitution of the United States and that he doth absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state, or sovereignty whatever and particularly to the prince of Manheim and Emperor of Germany to whom he was before a subject. I, by the court, here in consideration of the promises and in witness of the Acts of Congress aforesaid, admitted and recognized a citizen of the United States of America.
